Mark LudmonConsidering that most Britons still view tequila as something to slam (or something to avoid), there is an amazing choice of fantastic tequilas now available for bars. In this issue, we find out how bars and brands (and TV icon Cleo Rocos) are trying to change perceptions about the category and educate customers about this amazing spirit as well as its fellow Mexican, mezcal.

The love of all things Latin has certainly helped to drive success for London bar Barrio North and we speak to owner Ferdie Ahmed about his second bar in Soho. But it’s not all about new bars in London: this month we take you to a cocktail bar in Frome in Somerset and to a bar and club in Peterborough as well as to Leeds to reveal the new-look Living Room.

Investment in opening and refurbishing bars and clubs continues to grow even though it is still tough out there for many operators. As the industry emerges from recession, we are excited to present you with a new-look format for Bar magazine providing greater coverage of bars and clubs. Look out for new features and more content over the coming months, including more profiles of venues and even more tips and inspiration for building a premium bar business.
